Invitation to the Contract
When you are invited to a contract, you will either receive a link from the counter party or an email. In both cases, go ahead and click the link provided to you or select "Review Contract" in the email to navigate into Outlaw.
Navigating the Contract
Now that you are in Outlaw, there are a few actions that can be taken as you are executing the contract.
Filling in Variables
If necessary, you may be asked to fill out specific pieces of information pertinent to your agreement and these will be flagged with blue tabs within the Outlaw document.
🤔 Q: Why do I not see any variables to fill in? |
Commenting or Redlining
If needed and with the correct permission level, you may can have the ability to comment or redline on a contract to propose changes.
Please see the following linked articles with more information on Redlining & Commenting.
You can also look to notify other contract members of your redlines when togging on the redlining notifications.
🤔 Q: Why am I not able to comment or redline? |
Signing the Contract
Once your variables are filled out and any comments/redlining you have made has been approved, it is now time to sign your contract. Once signed, there is no need to click save/done - the document will save your signature and you have completed your piece.
To sign your Outlaw contract, navigate to the Signature area of the contract, which will look similar to the below.
How to Sign:
You will see that if you are the assigned individual to sign for a party, the signature box will appear blue and with "Click to eSign". To sign, click the box and either type or draw your signature.
Once the document has been signed, you will see your signature within Outlaw and your part of the contract has been completed. It will appear similarly to the below.
🤔 Q: My signature block doesn't show the ability to eSign?
💡 A: See the below messages that could be appearing in your signature box and why.
User not yet assigned |
In this scenario the user has not been assigned as the signing party. The owner of the contract will need to click on the Users tab and see what the left drop-down menu under the appropriate signers name says. It will most likely say, “None (not a signer)”. Ask the Owner to update you to a signing party. |
Fill in all details before signing |
There is an open variable that needs to be filled in before e-signing is activated. Check that there are no more blue tabs on the contract, indicating there is a variable that needs to be filled. If you do not see a flag then you do not have the ability to fill in any remaining variables, we suggest reaching out to the Owner/Editor on the document to fill in this variable. |
Resolve all open issues before signing |
An open red-line or comment is preventing you from signing. Check if you see a gray flag next to a section. If so, that means there is an open red-line in that section. Also check to see if you see a blue box to the right of any section. If so, that means there’s an open comment. You may not be able to resolve either of these issues on the contract depending on your permission level and may need to reach out the party that sent you the contract to resolve the issues on their end |
Document Completion
Once all parties have signed the document, the document will be moved to the "Done" stage and all users will receive a PDF copy of the document via email for their records.
If you have signed the document and it has not moved to Done status, likely the other party needs to sign and there is no action for you to take at that time.
