Captions are the most recognizable and time consuming part of all legal filings. The new widget for captions in Outlaw finally makes it easy to templatize different captions for different courts. Avoid wasting time on adjusting spaces or manually placing lines, boxes and other requirements of the jurisdictions in which you practice. With Outlaw, captioned plaintiffs, defendants and docket numbers are easy to adjust, so that you and your team can get back to legal drafting.
What is a Caption?
In a legal context, a Caption refers to the heading of a pleading or other legal document filed with a court. (Not to be confused with the descriptive text you add under an image!) Case captions are columns of information, separated by a divider, that can be used to highlight involved Parties, Court Information, Case/Docket numbers, etc., within a legal document.

How to Add a Caption:
With a Template open, click the "+" icon in the upper left in the toolbar, and select “Caption” from the dropdown list of section types.
Once you've created your Caption, you can now fill out the body using Parties, Variables and text. Additionally, you will see the option to customize your Divider, Borders and Padding for your Caption within your Section Menu.
Using the customization options, users will be able to create a variety of Captions to be used in their documents.
