Generating and editing FVDA documents is now available directly from the LOIS console. Additional FVDA functionality and workflows will be added in the coming weeks, including bulk document generation and generating directly to LOIS for Word.
To begin using FVDA in LOIS Console, type the request into the LOIS chat, e.g. “Draft an initial complaint for this case in FVDA.”
Note
Currently, the terms “FVDA” or “.vine” should be included in the request to help LOIS select the appropriate drafting option.
Supported FVDA Capabilities
Generate a new document (.vine)
When you request a draft of a new document, LOIS will search for and select the appropriate FVDA template. In some cases, multiple templates may match the request and allow you to select from a list:

Ensuring that templates have robust Descriptions will provide LOIS with additional context to improve the search and selection process.
Once a template is selected, LOIS will suggest a document name and identify relevant Filevine contacts that match any designated Parties in the template.
Once a name has been chosen, the FVDA editor will automatically open in editing mode. Here, you can review, fill, and generate sections for the document just as you normally would.
Resume editing a document (.vine)
LOIS can also handle requests to resume editing an FVDA document, regardless of its phase or state.
Searching FVDA
Requests can also be made to find templates or documents based on their names, creation or edit dates, and other properties. For example:
- Find all the FVDA documents I edited last week
- List all the FVDA templates related to slip and fall injuries
- Find all .vine documents related to this case
